Academics

A rigorous, college-prep education for grades 6-12.

Prepared for tommorrow

Beyond books and screens, brains and grades, Maranatha Christian is an online school dedicated to faith, academic excellence, leadership and everything in-between. Here, curiosity is applauded, discovery is championed, and ultimately world-changers are made. At Maranatha we don’t tell our students what to think, rather, we teach young minds how to think. Students will experience deeper learning and be challenged to think!

Fully known from anywhere!

Maranatha Christian Online School offers students so much more than what you would expect. Students can enjoy the flexibility of learning on a schedule that works for them while getting a rigorous, college-preparatory education. In addition to the online coursework, students can participate in weekly live virtual Community & Character hour, access the academic & college advising services, and strive towards the honors recognition and even join the National Honor society.

The Online Experience

Many online schools have adopted methods of instruction that try to mimic the  online world of gaming and videos. Maranatha Christian Online is more concerned with preparing students for college-level coursework. Our online program is a rigorous, college-prep program that will help your student develop excellent writing skills, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively.

All of our courses have been integrated with a Biblical worldview. Instructors have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have signed our Statement of Faith.

Online courses are designed to teach concepts in an asynchronous manner, provide practice problems, and deliver assignments and assessments. Instruction is not delivered live, rather students are able to determine a schedule that works for them and connect with their teacher for questions and discussion based assessments.

Online coursework provides the flexibility families desire when seeking online learning. Since instruction is not delivered live in a scheduled zoom session, students and parents can determine the days and hours that are best for learning in their family schedule.

The format of our online coursework allows students to work at a pace that best challenges or supports their learning. If your child excels in a particular area, they can work at a quicker pace and not be held back by others in the classroom.

Students have the opportunity to take honors and Advanced Placement courses as they work towards their post-secondary goals.

Students will have the ability to work towards the honor roll and join National Honor Society (NHS). Please see our full Academic Handbook for requirements.

To determine if content has been mastered, instructors will schedule a discussion based assessment (DBA) with each student to determine mastery prior to a semester exam. Exams are then proctored by either the school (for those who live close enough to attend on campus) or a mutually agreed upon adult.

Our team will conduct regular sessions to help your high school determine the high school path that will help them meet their post-secondary goals. They will also have access to college planning resources.

All students will be required to have a computer and an internet connection. Maranatha Christian Online will provide students with the following:

  • Maranatha email address
  • Office 365 suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
  • One Drive for cloud file storage
  • Naviance college planning software
  • access to Infobase, supplemental library of educational resources
  • access to eLibraryMN

Each week, we will host live virtual Community & Character hour that will include integral lessons on character building concepts. Chapel will also be available for students to attend virtually.

Weekly live sessions for Community & Character Hour enable us to get to know your child and for them to get to know your peers. Your student may be online, but they will be fully known from anywhere!
